La Gran Muralla is the perfect place for a fun night out with your friends! The vibes reign supreme from the moment you enter through the speakeasy door… just ask the host for the code and you’re in! You’re transported from a standard convenience store into a dimly lit restaurant with unexpected party lights, wine wall, stylish bar and jumbo fish tank. The roaring music sets the tone that you are here for a good time, which just might include a fist pump or two.

The cocktails are the stars of the show at La Gran Muralla. We started with the Tokyo Old Fashioned (a Japanese whiskey cocktail) and the Pepino Bliss (a fruity vodka cocktail with a tajin twist). Both were very tasty and went down quickly. Then we tried the Love & Hate, a fruity whiskey cocktail. While beautiful, it didn’t compare to the very well-made Old Fashioned.
La Gran Muralla has an extensive tapas menu, a few specialty sushi rolls and entrees. We happened to be there on Tapas Thursday, where all tapas and cocktails are 20% off, so we ordered a lot of tapas to try! Our favorite was the Wonton Bocadito. These were bourbon chicken wonton mini tacos and the chicken was cooked flawlessly. Topped with a pickled slaw, they were tiny tacos of perfection. The Pernil Rangoons were also tasty- it’s the first time either of us had roasted pork in a Rangoon. The Bori Bao Buns were stuffed with pork belly, slaw and a light passion fruit sauce. For a showstopping dish, try the Dragons Breath- it’s served flambe and will have everyone pulling out their phones to take a video of it!

A surprise hit was the Frito Suave sushi roll. Stuffed with chorizo, shrimp, plaintain, guava cream cheese and more, it was our favorite dish of the night! It’s large enough to share with a friend, too.
To finish off the night, we tried the Peanut Butter Explosion and Chocolate Marquise. The Chocolate Marquise was a simple chocolate mousse and fudge dessert- decadent and perfect for any chocolate lover. The Peanut Butter Pie was the favorite, though. Layers of peanut butter filling and chocolate cake put the cherry on top of this fun meal.

We would come back to La Gran Muralla next time we were hosting a party or a fun night out with the girls. The drinks and tapas are great to keep the good times rolling all night long. The service was attentive and personal, with our server always ready to provide another recommendation. And they have a karaoke room!
