Nestled inside Lakeside Village in Lakeland, there is a restaurant where the food is delicious and the experience is so fun! KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot is one of the few places in Polk County that offers a DIY hot pot and Korean BBQ right at your table.

Walking in, you see tables set up with a burner at each seat, as well as a built-in BBQ to share. We chose the hot pot, which is $35 per person. The BBQ is a $5 per person add on. The $35 includes a broth of your choice, access to the sauce making bar, and all the items you’d like to order to put in your hot pot.

For my broth, I chose the Tonkotsu, which has a rich garlic taste. While we waited for our broth to come out, we walked over to the bar to create our sauce to use as a dip for our food after it was cooked in the hot pot. My sauce consisted of soy sauce, sesame seeds, chili oil, and scallions.

When our broth arrived, it was placed on a burner on the table, which has a few heat settings to choose from. I recommend you start on “high” and slowly bring it to “low” once it gets to a boil. Each table has a tablet with all of the options to order, organized by vegetables, meats, and seafood. We ordered a little bit of everything, but my favorites to add were enoki mushrooms, lotus root, watercress, shrimp dumplings, lamb, and beef.

There are helpful guide sheets at the table that let you know how long to let everything cook in your hot pot before consuming. The meat is sliced thinly, and it only takes a couple of minutes to fully cook. Thicker items like the dumplings and lotus root take a little longer. Once cooked, you can pick out your food and dip it into your sauce and enjoy!

Our experience was a lot of fun, and I feel like you get your money’s worth with the amount of food you get. I highly recommend trying out KPOT on your next outing!
