I had the pleasure of visiting Wingnutz, Dixieland's newest and “hottest" wing spot in Lakeland. Driving from Winter Haven, I can say it was well worth the drive.

For $17.99, you can get ten wings with two sauces and a side of ranch or blue cheese. I was feeling a bit curious that day, so I tried both dipping sauces with my Hot Cajun and Honey Garlic wings. As someone who typically dislikes blue cheese, I can say this one makes a very strong case for itself. With every bite, you get a little bit of crispiness and real flavor. The honey had a natural sweetness, and the ranch wasn’t only mayo and buttermilk; it carried a real depth of flavor that enhanced the taste.
As a self-proclaimed wing fanatic, praise doesn’t come easily from me, but I’m happy to give credit where credit is due.

Head Chef AJ came to the patio and offered me a few wings with their signature sauce. He was just as cool as his recipes are good. Being from Buffalo, New York, where wings were born and are an intrinsic part of the culture, there is a standard to uphold. AJ isn’t falling short; he’s bringing authentic flavor and staying true to the OG recipes for us in Polk County.
Dixieland is a uniquely local hub, home to Concord Coffee, Balance Culture, Union Hall, and other Lakeland staples. Wingnutz is showing why they should enter that lineup.

Wingnutz is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Find them at 1037 Dixieland Mall Lane, Lakeland, FL.
